Pectolit Calf Supplement 3kg
Pectolit Calf Supplement 3kg
Pectolit: Essential Support for Calves with Diarrhoea
Pectolit is a complementary feed which is specifically aimed to support and stabilize the recovery of young ruminants during diarrhoea. Pectolit slows down gut peristaltic movements which protects gut epithelial cells. Pectolit contains many energy sources, vitamins and electrolytes. Unlike many anti-diarrhoea products, it also contains available proteins and fats that prevent the calf from starving and losing body weight.
When to Use Pectolit
Pectolit is specially formulated to support young calves suffering from diarrhoea. As soon as diarrhoea occurs, pause milk feeding and begin administering Pectolit.
- Standard Dosage: Feed Pectolit twice daily.
- For Weak Calves: If the calf is weak or in poor condition, increase to three feedings per day.
How to Dose Pectolit
Mix Pectolit at a rate of 50g per 1 litre of water (100g for a 2-liter feeding). The recommended amount is based on an average-sized calf (37-45 kg). Adjust the dosage as needed for larger or smaller calves.
Preparation Instructions
Dissolve Pectolit in warm water (38-40°C), stirring well. Although not fully soluble, the mixture will blend effectively. After standing, some particles may settle, but calves generally consume all the components.
Duration of Feeding
Pectolit can be given exclusively for 1-3 days. If the calf hasn't stabilized after 3-4 days, you may start adding small amounts of milk, beginning with 0.5 litres, and gradually increase.
Transitioning Back to Milk
Once the calf is stable, slowly reintroduce milk by mixing 1 litre of milk with 1 litre of Pectolit, then gradually decrease Pectolit while increasing milk.
Supporting Calves with Medical Treatments
For calves affected by pathogens like E. coli or Salmonella, Pectolit provides additional support during medical treatment. Safe and effective, it helps prevent dehydration and malnutrition, with extra doses offering added protection when needed.
